DANVILLE, VA, May 14, 2009 - Danville Community College practical nursing students were awarded their nursing pins in a ceremony held recently. DCC President Dr. Carlyle Ramsey was the keynote speaker, with other remarks given by Dr. Chris Ezell, Vice President, Academic and Student Services, and Dr. Wade Davenport, Dean, Division of Arts and Sciences.

In addition, special recognition awards were presented. Receiving awards were: Lisa Phelps of Danville honored with the Academic Excellence Award and Shaquetta Holloway, Pelham, NC, Best All-Around Student Nurse Award.

The 2009 graduating class includes the following students. (Note: Those names with an asterisk are summer graduates an Associate in Applied Science Degree with a specialization in Practical Nursing. All others received a Certificate in Practical Nursing):
