Danville Community College’s chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society was honored at the Virginia Region Convention. DANVILLE, VA, March 20, 2009 – Danville Community College’s Upsilon Phi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, recently took several top honors, including Most Outstanding Chapter at the Virginia Regional Convention held in Virginia Beach. Phi Theta Kappa is the international Honor Society for two-year college students.

In the Hallmark categories, the DCC Chapter placed second in Scholarship, sixth in Leadership and fourth in Service. The group also won first place in Communications and second place in Fund Raising. Individual awards were presented to Allen Vincent, who was recognized as Distinguished Chapter President; Janelle Sampson, Distinguished Chapter Officer, and Sherry Gott, who received the Horizon Award for Advisors.

The chapter advisors are Dee Drinkard, Assistant Professor of Psychology; Sherry F. Gott, Assistant Professor of English; and Vickie H. Taylor, Assistant Professor of Sociology.
