Part-time Reading Specialist

Middle College Program  

The Middle College program is a college recovery program for high school drop-outs between the ages of 18 and 24.  The program, which assists students preparing to receive a GED, leads them through a successful post secondary community college experience.  Teaching assignments may include day and/or evening sections.  A bachelor’s degree is required. Experience as a Reading Specialist, teacher certification and working with “at-risk” young adults a plus.  Successful candidate must be committed to the community college mission.  The hours and days per week are contingent upon funding.

PLANNING & RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Part-time Position

Danville Community College invites applications for an energetic, well-organized professional to assist the Director of Planning, Research and Externally Funded Programs.  Responsibilities include:

Ø  Data collection, specialized research, agency organizational studies, strategic planning and statistical analyses

Ø  Assisting with various institutional research initiatives as well as data collection and analysis

Ø  Assisting with developing, administering and compiling surveys

Ø  Disseminating research data to internal stakeholders and external regulatory, grant-funding, and accrediting bodies

Ø  Maintain institutional research databases

 Qualifications:  Associate degree; familiarity with SAS or similar statistical packages; mastery of computer skills, including MS Office; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently and interact with multiple constituencies in a collegial manner.  Desirable qualifications include Bachelor’s degree; previous experience working in a similar role in a community college or other professional office setting; knowledge of accreditation process (including SACS); and knowledge of the service region.
