Advisement Grids for Math and Language Arts Modules

Language arts modules integrate reading and writing instruction in order to meet a student's developmental requirements in either of these areas.  Highlighted areas on the grids are times when modular courses are taught.  You can plan other courses in a student's schedule in the non-shaded areas.  If you believe a student would benefit from modular instruction, use the grids below to determine times when a students can take other courses.

Students may be placed directly into BSK 41 – 46 based exclusively on COMPASS scoresThe lowest score in reading or writing determines placement.  For example, if a student scores 20 in Reading and 35 in Writing they take BSK 42.

Students in developmental math must be placed only after taking the Title III math assessments.  However, COMPASS scores determine which range of modules a student must take and you may schedule students in non-shaded areas appropriate to the module range.  For instance, if a student places in MTH 2 by scoring 30 on COMPASS, they will be taking modules 1 – 5.    The grid shows that students need to keep Tuesday and Thursday free from 8:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.  They may be scheduled for other classes outside this time.
