Course Number and Title:    EIP 280 Interactive Transliterating

I.              Catalog Description:    Provides instruction on transliterating in interactive situations. Prerequisite: EIP 216 and EIP 264 or consent of instructor. These courses may not transfer to any other VCCS institutions in ASL or INT programs. Lecture 1 hour per week.

This is the twelfth required upper level course of the EIP curriculum.

Intermediate signing skills or above

A.           Review of Sign-to-Voice Transliterating Skills

B.           Review of Voice-to-Sign Transliterating Skills

C.           Interactive Transliterating

1.    Components of interactive settings

a.    Logistics

b.    Effective communication

2.    Application of processing time in interactive settings

The student will:

A.   identify the components of interactive settings, citing an example for each 

B.   demonstrate the ability to transliterate interactive settings, both voice-to-sign and sign-to-voice, with 80% accuracy
