Drafting and Design Student and Professor Projects
The DCC Drafting and Design department has worked on a variety of projects that benefit the community and DCC. Our most recent project included a virtual campus tour. To our knowledge, we are the only community college in the state of Virginia offering viewers the ability to tour the campus in this type of virtual environment.
DCC's Online Virtual Campus Tour
The drafting department began development of an online tour of our campus in 2009. Students worked to create a few buildings each summer semester and the department the last building in the Summer of 2012. This project was started by Elizabeth Manzanares, a residential design student in 2009, and finished by Nick Buffington in the summer of 2012. We did not include the building interiors in an effort to reduce the file size and download time. Thanks to all those students who worked on this project. Now anyone can now take a walk around DCC's campus from their computer.
The file size is rather large so be patient when starting the tour. On campus, it will start relatively quickly. It can take more than ten minutes to start when viewing from home, depending on the speed of your internet connection.
Install the Cortona viewer (below) and begin your tour!

You can also tour DCC's Daycare Center facility. It was created by James Adkins, an instructor in the General Engineering and Residential Design programs.
