Pre-Teacher Education Program

The road to becoming a teacher requires dedication and commitment. Teachers have a lasting impact on children’s developing minds and personalities, and the decision to pursue a teaching career should not be taken lightly. However, if creating learning opportunities for young minds sounds like an exciting way to spend your day, then perhaps a teaching career is right for you.

At DCC, we do everything we can to support you in your decision to pursue a teaching career. Our advisors will assist you in selecting the liberal arts specialization best suited for achieving certification in your chosen grade-range or subject specialization, and we can even help you choose the four-year college or university teacher training program that is right for you. Besides offering a complete selection of core courses, DCC also offers the course: EDU 200 – Introduction to the Teaching Profession. The EDU 200 course includes a 25-hour practicum in a local school setting, and fulfills the requirement of most four-year schools for a practicum experience prior to admission into a teacher training program. If you are serious about becoming a teacher, then we are serious about helping you begin your journey on this exciting and challenging career path. Come to DCC and let the learning begin!
