Early Childhood Education
Do you enjoy watching children as they investigate the
world around them? Can you answer countless questions? Do you find humor in the
unique way children view the world? Can you laugh with them? Do you have the
patience and tenderness to care for our tiniest citizens? If so, a career in
Early Childhood Education may be just the place for you! The Early Childhood
Education curriculum is designed for students who plan to work with children
from birth through age eight years using developmentally appropriate practices.
This curriculum provides the student with skills in areas documented by Virginia
Competencies for Early Childhood Professionals. Graduates will be prepared for
employment in child care centers, preschools, or recreation programs. Students
who intend to transfer to four year colleges must see the program coordinator
for additional information.
