Advanced Nurse Aide
Are you an individual with excellent interpersonal skills and a high degree of compassion? Does the idea of working in a long term health care facility or a home environment appeal to you? Have you have been complimented on your keen observational, communication, organizational abilities? Do you enjoy helping others in ways that allow individuals to sustain their sense of dignity in the face of debilitating illness, injury, or the advance of aging? If so, then perhaps the nurse aide profession is the choice for you. Nurse aides are front line workers who carry out daily personal care tasks in health care settings that are essential to patient well-being. The Advanced Nurse Aide certificate is designed to not only prepare one as a nurse aide, but to prepare students for entry into a practical nursing program by requiring additional courses in anatomy, mathematics, and English. These courses also promote a greater understanding of one's patients and allow the nurse aide to function more fully as a member of a health care team.
NOTE: Students who have a felony
conviction, or a conviction for assault, will not be allowed into clinical
facilities in allied health programs. They are thus advised
to choose a non-allied health field.
