Description: Danville Community College invites applications for the position of Education Support Specialist to provide technical support in managing functional features to enhance SIS service, coordinate placement testing of new students, and provide support to Student Services as needed. Technical support. Serves as a campus-wide resource for SIS problem resolution, troubleshooting and responding to users’ problems in regards to table setup, class scheduling, academic advising, enrollment, non-credit classes and grading, dynamic classes, self-service and related functions. Education: Associate’s degree and job-related training and experience required.

Experience: Experience in a college Admissions and Records office, working with a relational database, i.e. student information system, preferred; experience working with a diverse population.

Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the PACT Clinical Manager, the Case Manager provides assessment, linkage, counseling, and advocacy services to seriously mentally ill (SMI) adults, in vivo at a level of intensity necessary to promote consumer empowerment and reduce the need for inpatient treatment, engages in pre-discharge planning at state psychiatric facilities, and provides support services to care givers; participates as a community support program team member; completes required documentation as prescribed by licensure, Medicaid, managed care groups or other third party payers with regards to clinical services and medical records keeping, as well as in accordance with Agency requirements. Instrument Technician III Requisition Number: 12330BR

Location: Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center- St. Paul, VA

The Dominion Generation business unit seeks a highly-motivated Instrument and Controls Technician to support the day-to-day operations of the Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center, a new coal and wood waste-fired power plant in the Southwest Virginia Coal Region, with a net generating capacity of approximately 585 MW. The Virginia City site is located near St. Paul, Virginia.

This facility is currently under construction and has a commercial operation date of 2012. Important Notice: This position has an anticipated starting date of April, 2011.

The successful candidate will provide instrument and controls support for a conventional steam generating facility consisting of two sub-critical, single reheat Circulating Fluidized Bed boilers with an SNCR and an air quality control system, one reheat condensing steam turbine, and an air-cooled condenser. The successful candidate will be able to provide the support noted below in accordance with applicable codes and regulatory requirements:

1) Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing power plant Programmable Electronic Systems (Distributed Control Systems and Programmable Logic Control Systems) during start-up and day-to-day operations;

2) Have an in-depth understanding of Fossil Fuel station processes and work closely with station operations to troubleshoot and correct processes;

3) Maintain and calibrate all station instrumentation and control devices, including Turbine TSI and DEH systems, Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS), and standard level, pressure, temperature, flow transmitters and control valves;

4) Perform routine and corrective maintenance on all station Environmental Systems and Instrumentation;

5) Work with station engineering to Write/Modify control system logic to optimize plant performance and/or control;

6) Work with station engineering to tune complex control loops for optimal system performance;

7) Read and understand pneumatic, hydraulic, electric and electronic documentation, and repair power station equipment and systems;

8) Test, inspect and adjust control instrumentation and determine causes of instrument malfunction;

9) Perform and be an integral part of functionally testing, during commissioning, all station systems and protective logic schemes;

10) Work a flexible shift during commissioning and as needed to support station needs. Must have availability and flexibility to work days, nights, and weekends;

Youth Director – Full Time Position

Education: Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Christian education with emphasis on youth ministry
Minimum: Associate Degree in pre-education classes that would include satisfactory .Completion of basic education, psychology, and youth related course work and have documented classes, workshops, etc in Christian youth work at approved schools. (i.e. Wesley Seminary’s youth certificate program or the General Board of Discipleship’s youth certificate program or Lay Speaking advanced certificate of youth, or worked with Chrysalis, etc.)
Experience:
Prefer several years of experience working with young people.

References indicating ability to relate this to today’s youth.

General Responsibilities: The youth director has the responsibility for supervising all the educational, service ministries and social activities of all church youth beginning with the rising 6th graders and extending through all youth in the 12th grade. Conduct activities, which reach out and minister to and with youth within the Westover area of Danville and the community at large, including programs such as prayer groups and/or study groups.

Develop programs with the purpose of increasing family participation in the church body.

Assist the pastor in providing youth instruction for “Profession of the Christian Faith” for Holy Baptism or Confirmation of the youth’s Baptism vows that were made by parents or guardians, so that the youth may become active, knowledgeable, participating full members of the “Body of Christ” here at Fairview UMC and in the world.

Live, demonstrate, and teach the Theology and Doctrines of the United Methodist Church as written in the 2008 Discipline of the United Methodist Church.

Conduct the screening and training of youth volunteers, with emphasis on supervision and backup up support. Abide by the Safe Sanctuary Policy guidelines of Fairview UMC, maintaining, at minimum, the appropriate adult/student ratio. Adults with questionable background checks or inappropriate behavior will not be permitted to work with youth.

Keep records and up to date permission notes and Vows of Conduct of all youth participating in activities while present at FUMC and at all off site events.

Cooperate with other staff positions and work to achieve a Fairview team unity.

Visit, as much as possible the homes, of all the youth and their families who are in the youth program.

Provide input for church publications such as bulletin, web page, newsletters, annual conference reports, etc.

Network with other churches and cooperate with sharing of resources as required.

Work in partnership with Danville District, Virginia Conference, and General Church Youth leaders to provide the Youth of FUMC opportunities to experience the larger church and its resources. (i.e. – Lake Junaluska events, Voices of Youth, District, Conference, and General Conference age level offered experiences)

Keep the pastor, Staff Parish Relations Committee, and the Administrative Council informed of youth activities. There will be interaction and coordination of fund-raising, mission plans, and special events with other committee team chairpersons as needed for church planning.

Keep a yearly youth activities calendar with details of planned events for the congregation to view and be aware of. Update Fairview publications with youth information and data.

Attend all mission trips, team trips and gatherings as a supervisor, teacher and coach to ensure proper conduct of FUMC youth. Have written consequences and complete follow through if conduct is improper at any time. Have youth and parents/guardians sign acknowledgement.

Report problem areas of youth conduct to senior pastor. Report misuse of youth facilities and equipment to senior pastor. Work out corrective procedures with senior pastor as needed.

Be strong in relating to FUMC youth, but also remember accounting responsibilities of youth performance to FUMC leaders.

Develop supervisory personnel to respond on short notice as needed.

Keep up with equipment, including cameras and computer supplies, assigned to the youth group.

Consult FUMC Employee Handbook for all procedures and guidelines.

Job Summary: Supervise and coordinate all activities of city drivers. Manage driver performance and training to maximize effective utilization of resources and to ensure customer satisfaction. Monitor business trends and make staffing recommendations regarding layoffs and/or recalls. Recommend or carry out personnel actions including hiring, disciplining, and discharging.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Directly supervise all activities of drivers responsible for pick-up and delivery of freight to customer locations. Coordinate work assignments, monitor performance, and provide training on job duties, and company policies and procedures.

2. Develop daily delivery plan (in most locations) and assign drivers and equipment to meet P&D freight and manpower needs. Determine driver availability, and assign equipment according to factors such as specific freight and customer requirements, including customer business hours, location, weight, and city routes/schedules. Select casuals as necessary following preferential list (if applicable), or based on qualifications and previous work experience. Decide when and if combination employees should be moved from dock work to driving.

3. Communicate with drivers at defined intervals to manage service expectations and identify problems. Use discretion and respond appropriately providing guidance to drivers with customer complications, delays due to traffic and weather, and specific instructions on handling collect shipments and COD freight.

4. Utilize drivers efficiently with least possible use of overtime, however use discretion to authorize overtime when necessary to meet service standards. Authorize breaks and lunch periods according to contractual language and customer/route schedules. Decide which driver should be sent for unscheduled or late pick ups and which driver to send for pick up when the scheduled unit is full.

5. Receive and respond accordingly to calls from customers as well as the Customer Service Center. Identify and categorize problems encountered by drivers including customer specific issues, and problems on the dock and in the shop. Identify management responsible for resolving problems, and propose solution.

6. Conduct pre-shift meetings with drivers to review previous day's activities including productivity, accidents, problems, results of any accident investigations, and to promote safety awareness. Based on this review, instruct drivers as to needed changes.

7. Evaluate driver performance and conduct driver review sessions. Initiate disciplinary process as necessary, providing appropriate coaching, documentation, and recommendations of further disciplinary actions. Maintain positive communications with drivers and work to promote teamwork. Ensure employees have adequate knowledge and resources to accomplish assigned job duties.

8. Evaluate driver reported accidents and breakdowns. Determine course of action based on severity of accident or breakdown. Communicate with local authorities, and authorize tow service, repairs, and insurance adjuster as needed.

9. Actively support the Dupont Safety Process geared to reduce driver preventable accidents and injuries. Communicate and promote a safe working environment. Complete Supervisor safety incident reports, and thoroughly investigate accidents to determine root cause.
